Rescue Vehicle is Response Ready

Marine Rescue Ulladulla has boosted its frontline response capability with the replacement of one of its key vehicles thanks in part to funding from Community Bank South Coast.

The vehicle is essential for towing rescue vessels and delivering critical equipment across regional waterways including Burrill Lake, Lake Conjola and Narrawallee Inlet. It also supports broader state response work, including flood evacuations and fire response when road access is cut.

The vehicle being replaced is over 10 years old and no longer reliable as a frontline emergency unit. Marine Rescue NSW offered a suitable second-hand vehicle to the Ulladulla unit, which has been uplevelled with official Community Bank South Coast branding (of course!).

Our Community Engagement Manager Caroline Boland and volunteer Director Gavin Hart headed to Marine Rescue to meet the latest edition and really understand the impact this vehicle has on everyday operations.

"We have such a great partnership with Marine Rescue, particularly because of the professional manner in which they understand our Community Investment Program and at the core, get about saving local lives. They are a pleasure to support and we're so pleased our model of community banking allows for profit to be put back into worthwhile organisations doing incredible work", said Caroline.

This upgrade directly supports the local region’s only 24/7 marine response service. With around 150 lives saved each year, the team responds to distress calls, assists during natural disasters and helps educate the community about water safety risks.

Beyond emergencies, Marine Rescue Ulladulla is also a strong local presence. The team hosts monthly markets, provides first aid support at events, and assists with long-standing local traditions like the Ulladulla Blessing of the Fleet.

This project ensures the region continues to benefit from rapid, well-equipped rescue response and demonstrates how targeted funding can literally help save lives.
